How to use the Yes No API in Node.js

Generate yes or no randomly. This guide calls it from Node.js with code we've run against the live endpoint.

Online · 923 msEndpoint tested Oct 24, 2026

1. What you need

Node.js 18 or newer (fetch is built in). Save as `index.mjs` and run `node index.mjs`.

No API key or sign-up. Endpoint: https://yesno.wtf/api

2. Make the request

JavaScript
const res = await fetch("https://yesno.wtf/api", { signal: AbortSignal.timeout(10_000) });
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`HTTP ${res.status}`);
const data = await res.json();
console.log(data);

3. The response

Trimmed from the live response on Oct 24, 2026.

JSON
{
  "answer": "yes",
  "forced": false,
  "image": "https://yesno.wtf/assets/yes/13-c3082a998e7758be8e582276f35d1336.gif"
}

4. Before you ship

  • Set a timeout and handle non-200 responses: free APIs can rate-limit or go down.
  • Cache responses where you can, instead of calling the API on every page view.
  • Read the official documentation ↗ for rate limits and terms of use.
